A thrilling match unfolded today at Broomfield as Syls’ U13 Camogie team took on Thomas Davis in the championship final. Sylvester’s opened strongly with an early goal from Niamh Egan, but Thomas Davis responded with five consecutive points, leaving Syls two points down at halftime.
After a determined halftime talk from the coaches, the Syls girls returned with impressive resilience and focus. Ayveen Jennings quickly brought the team back into the game with a superb goal, followed by several expertly taken frees by captain Leah Rochford (pictured) putting Syls ahead with just minutes remaining.
In the game’s final seconds, goalkeeper and woman of the match, Hannah Ludden, made a stunning save, lift, and clearance to secure Sylvester’s first-ever Camogie championship trophy with a hard-fought 3-point victory !
